In modern beekeeping, a wax foundation sheet imprinted with hexagonal patterns is inserted into a rectangular frame as a blueprint for bees to build upon. Yet that rectangle is a choice made for the beekeeper, not the bee. NovaHive asks what the foundation looks like when designed for the bee itself. Actual stones were scanned, reflecting Apis cerana's natural nesting in rock formations, and their organic form became the new blueprint.
